Fun and Festive Weekend at Balsam Hill Farm

Fun and Festive Weekend at Balsam Hill Farm

Everyone at Balsam Hill Farm would like to extend our appreciation to all of our customers and friends who came up to the hill for opening weekend and to thank you for making it such a fun and festive event. The mood was set with everyone being in the holiday spirit. There were many seasonal hats and sweaters that kept people smiling and plenty of young people with dreams of what was to come. A couple that had gotten engaged at the farm two years before returned to choose a tree and large families met to extend their tradition to the next generation. We had a chance to catch up with friends and neighbors from just down the street and meet new customers who made the trip while visiting from Massachusetts and New York as well as many others from all around the local area. Thank you to everyone for allowing us to share in you holiday traditions. We wish you all the best the season can bring.

BHF Opens for the Holiday Season November 29th

BHF Opens for the Holiday Season November 29th

The time has passed quickly and here we are again, it’s almost time for the holiday season. It was a very busy spring, summer, and early fall at Balsam Hill Farm. There was plenty of planting in the expanded fields and the dry summer did not deter the need for mowing and cleanup. In our down-time we improved our lighting and increased our display space in the precut area. We are now putting some finishing touches on the farm as we wait to welcome back all of our friends and customers for another season. BHF will be opening for the holiday season on Friday, November 29th. It has been our privilege to share in your holiday traditions and everyone at BHF looks forward to that opportunity again. As always we will post updates here, on the Maine Christmas Tree Association website and on the Balsam Hill Farm website as well as our voice message system. We wish everyone a very happy Thanksgiving and hope to see you soon!

Late Spring Update From Balsam Hill Farm

You might not be thinking about your Christmas tree for this year yet but we are. It is less than six months before the holiday season begins and everyone at Balsam Hill Farm is looking forward to helping you find the tree that is perfect for you and your family. Planting is coming to an end. Nearly one thousand new transplants have been added to the farm to keep future generations of fragrant balsam firs available for our customers and friends. This time of year the candling (blooming) process is in full swing as trees begin their growth cycle. July and August will bring the time for the trees to be modestly shaped and groomed. BHF uses natural growth practices and we prefer to allow our trees to develop a little bit more as they were intended. July also brings the beginning of photography season at the farm. If you are thinking of having your holidays photos and greeting cards done at a tree farm, try to book early with your favorite photographer for the best selection of dates and times. Everyone at Balsam Hill Farm wants to again thank all of our customers and friends for a very successful 2023 holiday season and we look forward to seeing you again in 2024. In the meantime we will be busy working to improve your holiday experience and hope to see you soon.
